This compilation pulls from seven of them: the president of the RIBA and one of his predecessors, the CEO of 10 Design, a managing principal at KPF, the landscape architect behind the Diana Memorial Fountain, an AI consultant and one of the first architects to build a real following online. Between them, there’s 195 years of experience.

This episode is all advice: what they’d tell someone starting out, someone stuck in the messy middle, and someone running a practice. The video runs 57 minutes. Below are all 49 pieces of advice they give, guest by guest, in their own words.

Some of it disagrees. Chris Williamson says pick up the phone, because the worst anyone can say is no. Forth Bagley says the profession is a battle of attrition and you shouldn’t be in a hurry. Simon Allford says architects’ money problems are our own fault.

Sabrina Klor, CEO, 10 Design

Watch Sabrina’s full episode

Sabrina Klor is CEO of 10 Design and Chair of Women in Architecture UK. And they are both as important. So it's not about removing the importance of design or business. It's about having both at the same time. And that's hard, because as architects, we are not trained as business people.

Advice 02

If you're doing two jobs badly, pick one.

Sabrina Klor

I was at a point doing both, still running projects and trying to run the business.
