Doors and drinks are from 5.30pm, the talk starts at 6pm and the evening moves downstairs at about 7.15pm for the launch of issue ten of The National Grid. The Ockham Lecture series is an annual programme of talks on craft, design and architecture, with Ockham Residential as lead partner.<\/p>\n<p>Matthew Galloway is a Wellington-based designer and artist whose practice spans sculpture, installation, film, wall drawings, artist books and publishing, and he is one of three editors of The National Grid. His talk, The World is a Designed Landscape, starts from the idea that almost every site, system and surface we meet has been made and designed by someone, and asks which worldviews shape the designed environment. Registration is through Eventbrite and no ticket price is listed.<\/p>\n<p>Architects and interior designers spend their days making the surfaces and systems Galloway is talking about, so an evening on the politics of design from outside the profession is worth the trip to Ponsonby.
