A visionary firm in Los Angeles is seeking a versatile and well-rounded Design Strategist  with at least 5 years of industry experience to join their team. This position focuses on "placemaking" and offers the chance to work on exciting interdisciplinary projects in the early phases of ideation, programming, strategy, and defining the overall project brief with clients. The firm boasts an extensive portfolio of large-scale mixed-use retail projects around the world, many of which have made long-term social, cultural, and economic impacts on their cities over the years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Join a growing department that focuses on innovative research, strategy, and programmatic design of large-scale mixed-use retail environments
  • Develop ways to organize team efforts
  • Generate and clearly articulate strategic ideas both verbally and diagrammatically, and debate those ideas collaboratively with the team
  • Be able to express the financial metrics behind proposed design strategies 

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
  • A background in either Environmental Design, Urban Design, Real Estate, Architecture, or Landscape Architecture
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Have experience in design programming and the ability to work in different scales 
  • Proficiency in 3D Studio Max, Rhino/Sketchup, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Willingness to travel internationally for business

Bio: Lily joined Bespoke Careers in July 2018 as a consultant on the architecture team after working in the landscape architecture profession for five years. She worked in a range of landscape firms, including Melendrez (now RELM), Pamela Burton & Co., and Christine London Ltd. Lily studied Art:Semiotics at Brown University in Rhode Island, and then moved back to Southern California to get her Masters of Landscape Architecture at the University of Southern California (USC). She is also the Mentoring Director of the Association for Women in Architecture + Design (AWA+D) in Los Angeles.
