About this role

Our client is a leading international architecture and design firm that specialises in a diverse range of sectors and maintains an extremely loyal client base. They are seeking a dedicated Group Director to head their Seniors Living sector across Australia’s southern states. This Melbourne-based position will involve identifying and securing new business opportunities as well as facilitating a community of practice across the company – with a focus on horizon-scanning, research and development, innovation and knowledge-sharing in the Seniors Living sector. For the successful “Thought-Leader”, potential exists for the position to eventually become a national lead role. This is a rare and golden opportunity to head a committed and experienced team in a key leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities and develop and secure new business
  • Design and manage the sector strategy to facilitate the community of practice
  • Lead, mentor and coach the Melbourne team
  • Lead and foster a design culture practice-wide through knowledge-sharing and innovating thinking
  • Develop, build and sustain strong and positive relationships with clients and key partners
  • Actively participate on projects to achieve project outcomes
  • Monitor commercial outcomes in line with business objectives
  • Travel regularly to all studios as a ‘thought-leader’ on the sector

Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Architecture
  • Current ARBV Registration
  • 15+ years of post-graduate experience
  • Strong design folio with a focus on the Seniors Living sector
  • Deep knowledge of and passion for the Seniors Living/ Aged-Care sector
  • Demonstrated understanding of the sectors’ broader business drivers, environment and best practice guidelines
  • Business and commercial acumen
  • Ability to bring people together and harness focus and commitment
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills
  • Willingness to work ‘on the tools’ as required
