About this role

Seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer, responsible for overseeing the internal operations of the company. Responsible for directing operations of the firm in line with the company’s vision, values, and objectives. This is a great opportunity to work with an international architectural design firm with an impressive portfolio of large-scale mixed-use projects worldwide.

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer and Design Director

Coordinates with: Chief Financial Officer, Design Principals, Human Resource Manager, and Project Accountant

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead firm operations in close consultation with Design Director, Design Principals, Chief financial officer, project managers, and accountants
  • Provide strategic input and leadership to the Principals and Officers of the firm
  • Coordinate with the CFO regarding the financial aspects on projects and administrative operations
  • Create and maintain an efficient and effective infrastructure to support the delivery of professional services
  • Oversee the recruitment and selection of professional staff along with Human resources
  • Oversee and lead the management of professional staff assignments for existing and new projects
  • Oversee and lead the weekly project managers meetings
  • Interface with CFO/Project managers to develop six-month business forecasts
  • Heavy interface with Business Development and external offices insuring availability of project staffing for new business and client delivery satisfaction
  • Overview and solution-based leadership for projects that become financially challenged
  • Review with Director of Design, Design Principals, project managers elements of project deliverables, client delivery issues and project performances
  • Oversee and lead the quality control / quality assurance of project work
  • Maintain and oversee weekly Staffing Schedule and DP Schedule
  • Manage and coordinate with CFO/HR Manager with all design staff personnel matters.


  • Proven experience working for top tier architectural and design firms in an operational and leadership role.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully implementing strategic operational concepts
  • Effective organizational skills and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture required
  • Architectural license required 
  • Open office work stations
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required
  • Some after-hours availability may be required
