About this role


An exciting opportunity for a Senior Urban Designer. Key focus on city redevelopment projects but also a diverse range of other urban and community projects. Good verbal and written communication skills are highly desirable and the ability to work in and lead a team is essential. This established and award winning practice is known for their healthcare, education, cultural, residential, commercial and retail projects. The successful applicant will be joining an ethical and well respected practice. Key responsibilities

  • Significant experience on transport, master-planning, urban re-development
  • Ability to implement knowledge on a range of typologies
  • Be part of a team that will be developing and growing an existing sector
  • Work within a highly collaborative team on a range of large scale and diverse projects
  • Contribute to design thinking
  • Collaborate with other disciplines including landscape architects, planners and architects
  • Work across projects ranging from transport to campus master-planning and urban renewal strategy and other typologies locally and internationally
  • Mentor younger team members 

Skills and experience

  • Both architectural and urban qualifications
  • Outstanding design skills supported by a great portfolio of past work
  • 7+ years' urban design experience 
  • 10+ years post graduate experience in built environment discipline
  • Experience with Transport and Master-planning valuable
  • Experience gained on mixed use and multi residential projects
  • Past experience gained within New Zealand favourable 
  • Strong communication skills both verbal written and graphic essential
  • Great attitude and a hands-on approach
  • Team leadership skills including ability to inspire, develop and mentor others
  • Must be able to relocate to New Zealand

Scott Neilson

Bio: Scott studied at Queensland University of Technology and graduated with a Bachelor of Design majoring in interior design. After graduating, Scott worked as an interior designer in New York focusing on residential projects. Scott returned to Melbourne to focus on his passion in furniture and interior design, leading some of Australia’s top furniture showrooms. Scott joined Bespoke Careers in 2018 as an architecture and interior design Consultant for the national market.
