COX Architecture is a design-focused contemporary architectural practice with studios located in every major Australian city and a history spanning 60 years With over 600 staff across 9 studios they have a supportive and collaborative culture where they encourage their people to strive for excellence in everything that they do. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to bring on an experienced Chief Operations Officer to their Executive Team to manage ITC, Design Technology, Research Knowledge and Innovation, QA as well as studio operational functions. This role is unique in that it has a national reach but also connects in with semi-autonomous studios.

This role can be based in any of their 9 studios.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all operational functions are meeting the needs of the studios
  • Make strategic operational recommendations to the Managing Partner and Board of Management
  • Implement changes to systems and processes where necessary
  • Lead and mentor the wider administration sand operations teams
  • Assist the CFO with forecasting, budgets and business plans where necessary
  • Liaise and collaborate internally with Executive Team, committees and studio members
  • Support and guide on strategic operational matters
  • Coordinate and Chair the National Operational Committee
  • Support and Guide the Studio Operations

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a similar role with a large organisation leading business support and operations functions / experience in management consulting
  • Ability to think and plan strategically
  • Change management and continuous improvement experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Commercial acumen and financial management experience
  • Problem solving and high-level decision-making skills
  • Understanding of the architecture industry
