A welcoming design practice is seeking an enthusiastic and independent interior designer to join their established studio in Manhattan.

About this role

This long-established design studio has a substantial project repertoire of local and global workplace and high-end retail projects. There is a significant amount of trust and confidence that is invested in their staff which allows for the unique opportunity to run and manage projects at an individual level with minimal oversight from senior designers. Low-turn over and a supportive work culture is prominent within this firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on numerous projects at a time in the workplace and high-end retail sector
  • Develop original and meaningful design concepts
  • Create presentation decks to communicate design intent at multiple project phases
  • Participate in client meetings and relations
  • Develop space plans. programming and test fits
  • Create and contribute to drawing sets at all phases from SD-CD and CA, including custom millwork, furniture and detailing
  • Coordinate and foster vendor and consultant relationships
  • Create digital 3D models and renderings
  • Select and specify FF&E
  • Prepare and manage schedules including budgets and project timelines
  • Be active in the CA process as a PM and interior designer

Skills and Experience:

  • A degree in interior design, interior architecture, or architecture
  • 3-7 years of post-grad professional experience in commercial interior design, NY based experience preferred, workplace and retail experience preferred
  • Must be a confident, well-rounded interior designer
  • Familiarity with NY based vendors and consultants
  • Experience in both interior design and project management roles
  • Ability to work independently - a thorough understanding of the design process is essential to this role
  • Strong technical drawings skills
  • Experience in FF&E selection and specifications
  • Software proficiency: AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, Rhino w/ VRAY, Microsoft word + excel
