The Big Design Market returns to Carriageworks for a weekend celebrating independent designers and makers, with hundreds of Australian designers selling directly to the public across homewares, art, fashion, jewellery, and more.

The Big Design Market is one of Australia’s most beloved celebrations of independent design, bringing together hundreds of Australian designers and makers under one roof for a weekend of direct-to-public sales, launches, and creative connection. Held at Carriageworks in Eveleigh — one of Sydney’s most architecturally significant adaptive reuse venues — the September 2026 edition promises the same energy and quality that has made the market a fixture on the Sydney design calendar.
Spanning homewares, textiles, ceramics, jewellery, art, stationery, fashion, and furniture, the market is a genuine showcase of the breadth and quality of Australian design at the independent and studio scale. For architects and interior designers, it is an excellent place to discover emerging makers and product designers whose work might inform residential and hospitality projects — and a reminder that design culture extends well beyond the built environment into the full texture of everyday life.
Carriageworks provides a striking backdrop: its 19th-century railway workshop bones transformed into one of Sydney’s most versatile and atmospheric event spaces. Entry is free.
