Publication launch: This event marks the New York City launch of Planning, Urban Design, and Architecture for Climate Action, published by Cambridge University Press and drawing on contributions from 23 cities across 15 countries.

As federal climate leadership recedes, cities are being called upon to step up, and the architecture and urban design professions are increasingly central to that response. This evening panel at the Center for Architecture marks the New York City launch of Planning, Urban Design, and Architecture for Climate Action, a new publication by Cambridge University Press drawing on contributions from practitioners, researchers, and public agencies across 23 cities and 15 countries.

The program brings together eight speakers from the New York City contributor community for the publication, spanning climate science, civil engineering, urban planning, and architectural practice. Discussion will focus on applying climate risk projections to actionable guidance for architects and urban designers, using case studies to assess cost-effective strategies for mitigating emissions while enhancing adaptive benefits at the urban district scale. Speakers include researchers from Columbia Climate School, NASA Goddard Institute, and practitioners from firms including Arup.

The event takes place on 15 April 2026, 6pm to 8pm, at the Center for Architecture, 536 LaGuardia Place, New York. Tickets are $15 for the general public, with free entry for students presenting a valid ID. Registration is available through the AIANY website via the link below.
