Spring Exhibitions Opening Night
A free opening night celebration at the Center for Architecture launching three concurrent exhibitions: the AIANY Design Awards 2026, CFA Lab: Repair and Democracy and Urban Spaces, and Gerrit Rietveld: Wealth of Sobriety.
Triple opening: This evening launches three concurrent exhibitions at the Center for Architecture, on view through 2 September 2026: the AIANY Design Awards 2026, a new CFA Lab residency on repair and democratic spaces, and a photography retrospective of Gerrit Rietveld houses.
The Center for Architecture opens its spring programme with the simultaneous launch of three exhibitions, each offering a distinct lens on architecture, urban life, and design culture. The opening night brings together exhibition teams, members, and guests for remarks and light refreshments, marking the start of a five-month run through 2 September 2026.
The three exhibitions cover considerable ground. CFA Lab: Repair – Democracy and Urban Spaces presents work from the 2026 Lab cohort, a multi-month residency program inviting architects, planners, artists, and community activists to examine repair as a framework for addressing physical, political, and social inequities in the built environment. AIANY Design Awards 2026 showcases Honor, Merit, and Citation recipients across Architecture, Interiors, Projects, and Urban Design. Gerrit Rietveld: Wealth of Sobriety brings a selection from the photographic study by Dutch photographer Arjan Bronkhorst of lesser-known Rietveld houses to New York, curated by Bronkhorst and architectural historian Barry Bergdoll.
Entry is free for all attendees. The event runs from 6pm to 8pm on 7 May 2026 at the Center for Architecture, 536 LaGuardia Place, New York. All three exhibitions remain on view through 2 September 2026. Registration is available via the link below.
