Stirling Prize at 30 Exhibition
RIBA's touring exhibition marking 30 years of the Stirling Prize, at the Farrell Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne, from 21 October to 27 November 2026

Stirling Prize at 30 is at the Farrell Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne from 21 October 2026 to 27 November 2026. The RIBA touring exhibition marks three decades of the Stirling Prize, established in 1996 and named after James Stirling, which each year recognises the building judged to have made the greatest contribution to architecture. The Newcastle leg follows its first showing at Old Billingsgate, London on 15 October 2026.
The exhibition brings together past winners, shortlisted projects and the latest Stirling Prize winning building, with projects including Norman Foster’s 30 St Mary Axe, Zaha Hadid’s MAXXI, Liverpool Everyman Theatre and Hastings Pier. It asks what makes a building great and how expectations of architecture have changed over 30 years. After Newcastle it moves to RIBA North in Liverpool from 5 December 2026 to 17 January 2027.
For architects in the North East this is the only showing of the exhibition in the region, at Newcastle University’s Farrell Centre. It is a compact way to see 30 years of the UK’s best known architecture prize in one visit, and a reason to get into the Farrell Centre if you haven’t yet.
