The 2025 Rick Mather Lecture: Barrault Pressacco
French practice Barrault Pressacco presents the annual Rick Mather Lecture on loadbearing stone housing.
Location: Barbican Centre, Silk Street, London EC2, United Kingdom
Date: 3 September 2025
The Architecture Foundation in partnership with the Barbican Centre presents the 2025 Rick Mather Lecture delivered by Barrault Pressacco. The French practice explores their research-led project Wallness alongside the RIVP apartments in Paris. These works illustrate the enduring relevance of loadbearing stone construction in contemporary housing under increasingly stringent insulation demands. The lecture is delivered within the Architecture on Stage programme and is followed by three related films addressing housing standards, public housing policy and Neave Brown’s architectural legacy. The event integrates critical discourse on sustainability, tectonics and civic housing design.
