Bespoke Careers Expands to Washington, D.C.
Bespoke Careers has officially established a presence in the Washington D.C. market, appointing Lauren Cavanagh as the dedicated consultant for the region.
Q&A: Lauren Cavanagh on the Washington D.C. Market
Micah: Tell me a about you and your background
Lauren: So I have kind of a weird, windy career path. I was the 24th employee of a company that grew to over like 200 people in the time that I was there, and I liked the most was like helping to shape the culture, helping to do the interviews like helping to find the people that made our company what was awesome about the company. And so I was like, maybe I should be a recruiter.
And so I became a recruiter for architects and interior designers, even though I had no experience in that. I was there for over three years. I loved what I was doing, I made really amazing connections in the DC area with different firms and made some really great connections with candidates, some of which I still have relationships with. And then I left right before Covid to start my own business doing not recruiting at all. I was, doing fitness and stuff like that.
And then Covid happened and the world changed. I somehow ended up doing voiceover work, and I became a voice actor. While doing that, I also moved around a whole bunch and ultimately ended up in Austin. I kind of missed recruiting, and decided I wanted to go back to doing that. And so I reached out to James, and that’s how I ended up here at Bespoke.
Micah: What is the initial pulse on the DC market? I’m interested to know kind of how clients are feeling. Are they positive going into 2026?
Lauren: Things are pretty strong. Places are hiring. I would definitely say they are hiring more cautiously than they were prior to Covid. But places are hiring and people are looking and candidates are looking to make a move.
Micah: What do you think it means for clients and candidates that they can now work with Bespoke?
Lauren: I think it means that people should watch out because they’re going to be hearing from me a lot! What I think makes Bespoke different is that we are so ingrained in the industry, you know, founded by an architect for architects, the institutional knowledge that we bring to the table means that we are giving a lot more perspective to candidates, and that we are able to be more of a resource to our clients.
