2026 National Architecture Awards

The Australian Institute of Architects announces its 2026 National Architecture Awards at a gala in Brisbane, with 62 shortlisted projects across 14 categories

Location: Brisbane, venue to be announced

Date: 29 October 2026

The Australian Institute of Architects announces the winners of the 2026 National Architecture Awards at a gala in Brisbane on 29 October 2026. The awards are the final stage of the Institute’s state and territory programme, and the evening gathers directors, project architects and clients from the shortlisted practices along with the national jury.

Sixty-two projects are shortlisted across 14 categories, including Public, Commercial, Educational, Interior, Heritage, Sustainable, Urban Design, Small Project, two Residential Houses categories and Residential Multiple Housing, plus the Colorbond Award for Steel Architecture. The jury is chaired by Adam Haddow of SJB, with Alice Hampson, Jeremy McLeod, Isaac McCormack and Helen Norrie, and visited every Australian shortlisted project in person over two weeks.

The gala sits the night before the 2026 Australian Architecture Conference in the same city, so much of the profession will already be in Brisbane. For Queensland practices it is a rare chance to see the national awards decided on home ground.
