The Designers Institute of New Zealand’s annual Best Design Awards dinner at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland

Date: 9 October 2026
The Best Design Awards 2026 take place on 9 October 2026 at the Viaduct Events Centre on Halsey Street in Auckland, running from 6.30pm to 12.30am. The annual awards are run by the Designers Institute of New Zealand and celebrate design excellence across Aotearoa.
The awards span a wide range of disciplines, including spatial design for architecture and interiors, graphic, digital, industrial design, film, animation, user experience, social good, value of design and Toitanga, which celebrates Māori cultural expression through design. Most categories include student and academic sections.
The night brings together the country’s design community across every discipline, which makes it one of the few events where architects and interior designers share a room with graphic, digital and product designers. Standard tickets are $350 and student finalist tickets are $265.
