DINZ Digital Forum 2026: Beyond the Prompt

Designers Institute of New Zealand panel on design practice in the age of AI, at Silverstripe on Customhouse Quay, Wellington

Location: Silverstripe, Level 7, 36 Customhouse Quay, Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington

Date: 28 October 2026, from 5pm

The Designers Institute of New Zealand holds its Digital Forum 2026, titled Beyond the Prompt, Design Practice in the Age of AI, on Wednesday 28 October 2026 from 5pm to 7pm. The venue is Silverstripe’s office on Level 7, 36 Customhouse Quay in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington. It’s a panel discussion with audience participation, and drinks and nibbles are provided.

The panel is James Ford, Creative Director at Silverstripe, Dani Wright, Design Director at Effect, Mark Dalton, Creative Director at VML, and Tui Te Hau, founder of Bird Island. The discussion covers human judgement, craft, authorship, ownership, cultural context and sincerity, and the organisers say they want a candid conversation rather than praise or criticism of AI. Tickets are $10 for DINZ members, $5 for graduate and student members and $15 for non-members.

Architects and interior designers are working through the same questions as the graphic and digital designers on this panel, from who owns a generated image to what a client is paying for. Two hours in Wellington for $15 is a cheap way to hear how other disciplines are answering them.
