Earth Day panel: Timed to coincide with Earth Day 2026 and hosted at the SOM New York offices, this event brings together practitioners from SOM, KPF, Gensler, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to discuss sustainability, resilience, and careers in the built environment.

Timed to coincide with Earth Day 2026, this panel hosted by the AIANY Emerging New York Architects Committee (ENYA) and the Committee on the Environment (COTE) brings together five practitioners working at the intersection of architecture, sustainability, and urban resilience. The event takes place at the New York offices of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, one of the firms represented on the panel.

Speakers draw from leading practices and public institutions, including SOM, KPF, Gensler, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Discussion will cover career paths within sustainability and resilience specialisms, the role of the AEC industry in building a more sustainable future, and the policy and engineering frameworks shaping how cities adapt to climate change. The panel is moderated by Christina Brown, Senior Environmental Performance Specialist at KPF.

The event runs from 6:30pm to 8pm on 22 April 2026 at SOM New York, 250 Greenwich Street. Tickets are $15 for general public and non-AIANY AIA members, with free entry for students with a valid ID. AIANY members can access member pricing by logging in at the registration link below.
