RIAS & IStructE CPD: Architect-Engineer Breakfast Seminar
The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS) and the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) Scotland Regional Group co-host a CPD breakfast seminar exploring SER Certification — why architects and engineers should embrace it.
A joint CPD event from two of Scotland’s leading professional bodies — RIAS and IStructE Scotland Regional Group — exploring SER Certification.
RIAS welcomes IStructE Scotland for a joint CPD breakfast seminar focused on SER Certification — the Scottish system for structural engineer certification of building warrants. Held at the RIAS headquarters at 15 Rutland Square, Edinburgh, the morning event is designed for architects and engineers working across the Scottish planning and building standards system.
The keynote is delivered by Mark Lawler, exploring the benefits of SER Certification from a practice perspective, followed by a presentation from Michael Kilpatrick on the certification process and its implications for project delivery. Together, the sessions aim to clarify the system’s requirements and help attendees understand how SER Certification intersects with their day-to-day project workflows.
A Q&A session chaired by Zoe Black follows the keynote presentations, providing an open forum for questions on practical application, professional responsibility and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Breakfast and networking run from 8:30 AM ahead of the formal programme, offering attendees time to connect before the sessions begin.
