Vivid Sydney returns for its 15th year from 22 May to 13 June 2026 — 23 nights of large-scale light installations, music performances and ideas programming spread across Sydney’s harbour foreshore, CBD and surrounding precincts. For design and architecture professionals, the Light Art programme is the draw: commissioned works from Australian and international artists that transform public space, facades and infrastructure into immersive experiences. The festival consistently attracts over three million visitors across its run, making it one of the Southern Hemisphere’s largest creative events.
The architecture and design focus centres on The Rocks and Circular Quay, with light projections mapping the Sydney Opera House’s iconic sails — a site-specific tradition now in its second decade. Beyond the spectacle, Vivid Ideas brings together a curated programme of talks, workshops and panels across creative technology, sustainability and urban futures, drawing speakers from architecture, urban design, film and the broader cultural sector.
General entry to the outdoor installations is free. Vivid Ideas ticketed events require registration via the official website. The festival runs nightly from 6pm, with the full programme and session booking available at vividsydney.com.
