Beyond Bespoke: The Other Art Fair

In December, our consultant Samantha Dodds took a trip to The Cutaway down to visit The Other Art Fair in Barangaroo, Sydney. Presented by Saatchi Art, the exhibition is a curated selection of over 110 independent artists in an eclectic mix of art, DJ's, performances and more. 

The Venue

The fair was held at the Cutaway – a unique cultural venue, hidden away beneath the artificial hill that is now home to Sydney’s new native botanic garden. It’s a fundamental part of the city’s remarkable re-created north-western headland.

The Fair

The art fair itself had an extremely cool vibe, with a DJ, a bar serving yummy cocktails and even a spot to get a tattoo! 

Upon arrival, we were instantly drawn to the massive ‘Evanescent’ sculpture by Atelier Sisu – a huge piece that looks like giant bubbles and reflected beautiful colours across the room. The piece is intended to make you feel the ‘magic of bubbles and the joy we felt as kids’. There were also pieces by Richard Briggs who was presenting his complex fine-line drawings and his popular drawing class that was offered to architecture students. 

Overall, it was such a great experience, and we can’t wait to visit next year!
