BDAA National Festival of Design 2026
The Building Designers Association of Australia's four-day national festival in Canberra, with a trade show, conference, awards gala and architecture tour for building designers, architects and suppliers
Location: Gandel Hall, National Gallery of Australia, and The Vault, Fyshwick, Canberra
Date: 22 October 2026 to 25 October 2026
The Building Designers Association of Australia holds its National Festival of Design in Canberra from 22 to 25 October 2026. The four-day programme is split across Gandel Hall at the National Gallery of Australia, The Vault in Fyshwick and the Dairy Road Precinct. It brings together building designers, architects, builders, product suppliers and students, with a focus on housing, innovation and business resilience.
The national trade show opens at The Vault on Thursday 22 October from 4pm. The conference runs at Gandel Hall on Friday and Saturday. A networking night at The Stream, Dairy Road, follows on the Friday. The BDAA National Design Awards gala dinner is at The Vault on Saturday 24 October from 6.30pm, and Tone Wheeler hosts a Canberra architecture tour on the Sunday. CPD points are available across the four days.
Canberra rarely hosts a national design event of this size, and the festival puts building designers and architects in the same rooms as the suppliers and policy people shaping Australian housing. For practices working in residential design, it is a useful check on where the sector is heading.
