The AIA Austin Homes Tour is an annual two-day event showcasing a peer-selected collection of Austin’s best residential architecture, with each featured home presented through a technical walkthrough led by the design team responsible for it. Unlike a conventional house tour, the programme is structured around professional content, with architects available on site to discuss structural approaches, material decisions, passive and active environmental systems and the client brief that shaped each project.
The 2026 tour features homes selected by an AIA Austin jury for their design quality and their contribution to Austin’s residential architectural culture, spanning a range of scales, budgets and sites. Projects typically include new-build custom homes, major renovations and infill housing, reflecting the diversity of residential work being produced across the city.
For architects and interior designers, the Homes Tour provides a valuable opportunity to see how peers are resolving the specific challenges of residential design in Austin, including thermal performance in the Texas climate, site constraints in established neighbourhoods and the integration of landscape with building.
