Livable Cities 2026: Critiquing the Urban Renaissance

AMPS's annual Livable Cities conference examines urban design, regeneration and creative economies at the University of Salford, Manchester.

Location: University of Salford, Manchester

Date: 17 June 2026 to 19 June 2026

Livable Cities 2026 is the annual international conference organised by AMPS (Architecture, Media, Politics, Society), held this year in partnership with the University of Salford in Manchester. The conference brings together researchers, architects, planners and urban scholars to examine the design, management and lived experience of contemporary cities.

The 2026 programme is themed around critiques of urban regeneration and creative economies, inviting contributions from across disciplinary perspectives including architecture, planning, sociology, sustainability and public health. Papers and presentations addressing urban conditions in the Americas are particularly welcomed alongside broader international perspectives.

The conference forms part of a long-running interdisciplinary series that convenes annually in a different city. Registration and programme details are available through the AMPS website.
