Melbourne Design Week 2027
The 11-day design festival curated by the NGV returns to Melbourne and regional Victoria with talks, exhibitions, tours and workshops

Melbourne Design Week 2027 runs from 20 to 30 May 2027 across Melbourne and regional Victoria. The 11-day festival is an initiative of the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria, and it is curated by the National Gallery of Victoria’s Department of Contemporary Design and Architecture.
The programme spans talks, exhibitions, tours, workshops, dinners and launches in studios, galleries, universities, restaurants and public spaces. Since launching in 2017 the festival has grown to more than 500 events a year with over 1,300 designers taking part, and the 2026 edition drew more than 120,000 attendees.
Participation is open through an expression of interest process, so the programme mixes emerging and established designers. For architects and interior designers in Victoria, it is the biggest week of the year to show work, meet peers and see what the local design community is producing.
