Open House Melbourne's two-day city-wide programme opens buildings across Melbourne under the 2026 theme of civic generosity and public space.

Open House Melbourne is the annual city-wide programme that provides free public access to significant buildings and spaces across Melbourne over a single weekend. The 2026 edition operates under the theme “Generous City,” framing the weekend as an examination of how architecture and urban design contribute to equitable public life across the metropolitan area.
For practitioners, the professional value lies in the architect-led technical tours, which in 2026 include deep dives into the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation and access to the structural and mechanical infrastructure of recently completed precinct buildings. These tours provide a level of technical detail not available in standard public programming and are typically limited in number.
