Powerhouse Parramatta opens with a 23-day festival running from 7 to 29 November 2026, across three weeks and four weekends. The festival marks the opening of the new museum on the Parramatta River in Sydney’s west.
The programme features 179 events celebrating First Nations culture, space, science, technology and transport, as well as design, architecture, music, food and film, with performances and talks from Australian and international creatives, thinkers and artists. Around 65% of events are free, and children under 16 have free entry to exhibitions.
The opening of Powerhouse Parramatta is one of the most significant cultural building projects in New South Wales in recent years, and the festival is the first chance for the design community to experience the building in use. The museum is open until 9pm from Thursday to Sunday during the festival.
