Queensland Architecture Awards 2026
The state's definitive peer-reviewed recognition of architectural excellence, setting the benchmark for Queensland practice ahead of the 2032 Olympic infrastructure rollout.
Location: Brisbane (venue to be confirmed)
Date: June 2026
The Queensland Architecture Awards are the Australian Institute of Architects’ annual recognition of architectural excellence within the state, covering categories across residential, commercial, heritage, education, public and urban design. Entries are assessed by a jury of respected practitioners, with shortlisted projects published through the AIA ahead of the June ceremony.
The 2026 awards carry particular weight given Queensland’s position in the lead-up to the 2032 Brisbane Olympics infrastructure programme. The projects recognised in this cycle will effectively define the benchmark of practice against which the state’s contribution to Games-related and legacy projects will be measured, making the awards an important signal about where the profession’s aspirations sit at a pivotal moment in the state’s development.
Winners of Queensland Architecture Awards progress to the National Architecture Awards, with the national ceremony held in November. For practices active in Queensland, the awards represent the primary peer-reviewed recognition of design quality available in the state, and shortlisting carries meaningful professional and commercial weight.
