The Architecture Symposium, Sydney
A peer-led critical forum at the State Library of NSW on 20 November, examining contemporary challenges in practice and project delivery.
Location: State Library of New South Wales, Sydney
Date: 20 November 2026
The Architecture Symposium is a Design Speaks programme held at the State Library of New South Wales on 20 November 2026. The annual Sydney edition gathers architects for a day of peer-led discussion focused on practice-based research and the realities of contemporary project delivery, deliberately moving away from awards rhetoric into the structural tensions facing the profession.
The programme typically addresses fee compression, procurement reform, housing delivery, and the relationship between design ambition and built outcome. Previous Sydney editions have been held at heritage cultural institutions, reinforcing the symposium’s positioning as a critical rather than commercial gathering for practitioners willing to engage seriously with the difficulties of contemporary practice.
The 2026 programme theme and speaker line-up have not yet been announced. CPD points are available to all registered attendees. The event is organised by Architecture Media and sponsored by Kingspan, Bondor Metecno, and Voltex.
