Design Manchester’s annual conference returns in October 2026 at the Bridgewater Hall, focusing this year on the relationship between urbanism and graphic environments, examining how the visual language of cities shapes and is shaped by the people who inhabit them. The conference is a high-level forum bringing together designers, urban planners, architects, typographers and creative practitioners to discuss the design of the city at multiple scales.
Design Manchester has been a significant force in the city’s creative calendar for more than a decade, connecting the worlds of graphic design, architecture and urban thinking in a way that is unusual among UK design festivals. The conference strand sits at the intellectual centre of that programme, drawing speakers of genuine stature and framing conversations that extend beyond a single discipline.
For architects and interior designers working in urban contexts, the conference offers a productive challenge to disciplinary assumptions, with content pitched at the intersection of how cities are planned, how they are branded, and how they are experienced on the ground.
